I am writing this during an ICU stay for my son; one of countless hospital stays over the years. This particular stay is more stressful than normal because it is the third one in the past month, and we have been unable to determine the cause of my son's recent issues. That said, it has been one of the best hospital experiences I can recall.
That is due in large part to Tiffany's exemplary care.
In all our stays, we've experienced the full spectrum of nurses. But only once or twice has my son had a nurse who truly rises above and beyond the job description.
Tiffany is one of those nurses.
The nomination form asks me to describe a situation. I contend that even the marginal nurse will have a situation or two where he or she meets the [DAISY] criteria described. Only a truly exceptional nurse goes beyond the single situation and makes the entire experience one that meets these criteria and more.
Tiffany embodies that description.
Tiffany was truly a member of our team, and I felt that her concern for my son was as if she was another family member beside me. Her focus was on him and every one of his needs. She was able to navigate the requirements of my son's team along with the many questions, concerns, and demands of this very involved and engaged parent. Her attention to detail, sense of urgency, and professionalism were not only admirable but impeccable. Beyond that, she almost instantly became as knowledgeable as anyone on our team to my son's very complex needs and complicated care requirements.
I am not overstating the case when I say that my son and our family are better off as a result of our interactions with Tiffany. I am honored to have met her, she is a true DAISY Nurse.
