I first met Shelley in the summer of 2018 when I needed to call ENT to schedule my daughter for a surgical procedure. Due to my daughter's genetic condition of William syndrome she requires specific protocols to be followed anytime she is put under anesthesia. Also due to the risk of anesthesia, it is recommended that, when possible, procedures are combined because of the sensitivity of her response to anesthesia.
Our daughter also needed a sedated hearing test as well as an MRI. So, what appeared to be a simple tube placement in her ears and adenoid removal turned out to be a scheduling nightmare. Shelley graciously took it on and helped coordinate all of the necessary people so that my daughter could have the additional testing done under sedation. I should mention that it was a high-stress time waiting to hear about a procedure date especially since it got switched a couple of times and every time Shelley called, she approached the delivery of the news with such grace and kindness. Shelley also always showed great empathy and would help comfort me as I would cry from the stress of the situation. The procedure was completed in September 2018 however one of my daughter's tubes fell out and we needed to come back and Shelley helped to get us rescheduled.
Fast forward to this November 2019 when we discovered that my daughter needed her tonsils out and while she was under was going to have a CT scan. Shelley was able to magically coordinate the surgery in a timely fashion and helped meet our needs which included coordination of preadmission for hydration the night before. Shelley is an angel here on earth. She promptly recognized the complexity of the case and dove right in to help us out while demonstrating empathy and compassion. It is comforting to know that we have such a caring person on the other end of the line to help navigate our procedures. I feel Shelley regularly went above and beyond to help our family and we are forever grateful for her passion.
