Kristin showed extraordinary kindness towards a special patient we have on 7 West. This patient has been on 7W for months awaiting placement. Kristin made a great effort in making the patient's Easter Sunday a special day. Kristin rallied her co-workers and came up with making Easter eggs with this patient on the eve of Easter Sunday. She brought eggs and the other materials which were needed. During this activity, one can clearly see the joy on this patient's face and one can see that at the moment, this patient felt special and loved. Taking things further, Kristin had plastic Easter eggs ready and hidden and engaged this patient in an early morning Easter egg hunt around the unit as soon as this patient woke up. I saw tears on this patient's face as well as joy as he went around the unit looking for the eggs with everyone following him. Kristin also had 2 big Easter baskets filled with things this patient loved and can have, waiting for him at the end of the egg hunt. It was a joy filled Easter Sunday morning on 7 West and everyone who was working on that day was moved. It may be a small "run of the mill" activity but it sure did make a difference for our patient and us.
