Lisa Schmidt was nominated for the DAISY award by a former patient who shares her story with us…..
“I was brought in by ambulance, very far from home, 2 weeks before Christmas. I was looking at surgery and hospitalization until possibly Christmas. I was very sad, scared, lonely, and in a lot of pain. Though Lisa was very busy on every shift she was sure to make me feel comfortable and at ease, and as well gave me the extra attention as my mental condition was very low.
She took extra care of me. She sat and made me feel better about my situation. She offered to pick up anything such as books, magazines, etc. on her time off as my family and friends were so far from here. She really went above and beyond her call of duty and I feel this is the best care facility.
She had a day off, but still came in to see me and brought me 2 books to read and a journal to write in. She sat with me and kept me company with stories of her life that related to mine. She is truly a DAISY and deserves to be told she is an excellent nurse.
Thank you, Lisa, you will never know how much your kind words and gestures meant to me. Keep that smile, you really make this hospital a beautiful place to be! I am forever grateful.
