Diana was a very compassionate and exceptional nurse during the worst time of our lives. My dad had collapsed at home. He was brought into the ER at MMC where it was determined that he needed emergent surgery. He had had a free wall rupture of his heart. For the next week, we were in the most stressful time of our lives. Though when we came in to visit, Diana would just have this calm manner about her and treated us as a whole; patient and family as one. We were lucky enough to have Diana as my Dad's nurse for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. She would communicate with us when tasks had to be done with my dad. With my mom being in a wheelchair when outside the home, Diana made it possible for Mom to be able to kiss her husband each evening as we were leaving. Just for that one act of compassion, I can't thank her enough. Mom and Dad had been married 51 years this past June. Dad fought a very tough battle but wasn't able to pull through.
Diana deserves this award hands down. She exemplifies the definition of what an extraordinary nurse should is.
