I am a resident at the Villa of Evergreen Park and I developed severe abdominal pain and serious GI distress. I was delivered by ambulance to the ER. The nurse assigned to me was Keelin Wilson. I was in the ER during the night and cared for by this wonderful nurse. I had many tests performed to determine what the problem was. It turned out that I had a severe case of Pancreatitis.
Keelin attended to all my concerns. The most important was to reassure me and to manage my pain. She took special care to provide comfort measures such as a warm blanket and a cool cloth for my head. Her tone of voice was comforting and she maintained a positive attitude that I would feel better and would be well cared for. My sister and I were so impressed with her bedside skills and her ability to establish trust and empathy with us. She made frequent checks on me and continued to ask how she could make me more comfortable and provided information along with the physician as to how I was progressing.
I know it was a busy night in the ER because I saw so many patients and families outside my cubicle but Keelin made me feel like I was the only patient she had to care for. Her professionalism was outstanding and she did not share anything about the busyness of the ER that night. I was transferred to a medical unit and she helped make that transition smooth.
