Tammy has been in the position of day shift charge RN 5 days a week since before moving to MCGC. She was a part of the orientation of our new unit as well as becoming a super user for all of the equipment. She was a huge force for making the transition to a new hospital smooth. Tammy often stays past her shifts to make sure all our patients are well taken care of and that the staff is in a good position for the remainder of the day. She is an excellent educator for all our staff and is well versed in policies and procedures. If there is a question she is not sure the answer of, she will go out of the way to find it. She is eager to jump in and help a patient with whatever they may need, whether it is breastfeeding, infant care, rest, or ambulation. There is not a task that she will turn down. Tammy sees each patient as an individual and will personalize her care accordingly with collaboration of the primary RN. She runs multidisciplinary rounds every weekday and is focused on making a plan on how to efficiently discharge patients in a timely manner, as well as plan for any new admissions that may be coming to the unit. She will sit with a patient and very thoroughly go over discharge teaching until they are confident in their ability to take an infant home. I have witnessed her many times sit with a mom for an hour making sure she has all the tools and resources she needs to take her baby home. Tammy is an extremely hard worker who has all her staff's interest in mind when she comes to work. She is the single reason that our staff is satisfied when we come to work. She is hardworking, compassionate, and dependable.
