We had a patient who was with us for quite some time and became known by the staff. This patient had no family, no home, and no belongings. When all arrangements had been made for the patient to be placed, these two caring individuals took it upon themselves to go and purchase clothing and other needs for the patient to depart with. If not for this kind act, our patient would have left with nothing but the gown on his back.
These two individuals not only sacrificed their time but also their money to selflessly provide to an individual with needs. Emilee and Elizabeth (Ann, as we know her) went above and beyond their call and duty as healthcare providers to show compassion that needs to be recognized. They have exemplified not only the standards of Atrium Health but also shown the acts of what nursing is truly all about: caring for our patients.
