I was brought to the ER after an injury at work. I was admitted to the Oncology department after scans showed a mass in my brain. Since the moment I arrived in this department, I was in the loving and incredibly capable hands of Ysabel.
On my first night, I was terrified, anxious, and completely restless. Ysabel took it upon herself to alleviate my worries and comfort me at my bedside. Throughout the night, she shared stories with me as though we were best friends who hadn't caught up in years.
In the several days she spent thoughtfully caring for me, she also took great care of my family and was patient and attentive to all their concerns. I celebrated my birthday in the time I spent there, and although I was deeply saddened that I couldn't spend it at home with my family, I never felt alone because of Ysabel.
When we said goodbye, she wished me well and wished that she wouldn't have to see me back here again- so that I could go home and get better. However, I do wish that I could see her again because, during the most horrible week of my life, I made a new friend named Ysabel, who will always give me peace of mind when I think back to my time at Banner Desert.
