There was a patient admitted to the Burn Unit, who while at work had tar splash on him and sustained second degree burns to his face, neck, truck bilateral upper extremities including his fingers. This patient had bandages covering his fingers, hands, and arms. A few weeks ago when the patient arrived in the burn clinic he was upset. He had a flat tire on his car and was unable to do anything with it because of his dressings. He is usually accompanied by his mother, but today she was unable to come. The patient lives about 115 miles from the clinic. A few weeks ago we were having a ton of rain, this day was a downpour most of the morning. Kristina reassured the patient everything would be okay. She took care of him, changing his dressings as she normally would in clinic. When the patient was ready to leave Kristina put on her scrub jacket and told the patient she was going with him to change his tire. It did not matter how bad the weather was, Kristina never gave it a second thought. The tire was changed and the patient was able to drive home safely. She was literally drenched from head to toe after accommodating her patient's need.
