Where do I begin when I try to explain the range of emotions I have encountered during my son's NICU stay? I have cycled through my guilt, sadness, despair, anger, frustration, helplessness, confusion, happiness, excitement, amazement, curiosity, and so many more. One nurse who has really been available for all my raw emotions is Ena Yoon. Much to my embarrassment, Ena started working with L on one of the days that I was struggling with my emotions the most. Throughout her first day with us and the following, Ena has supported me and helped me work through the strong and carried emotions that I've gone through in my times as a NICU parent. All the while taking exceptional care of L, she would find the time to listen to me and hear my fears, concerns, worries, and emotions. After being a fantastic listener, she would take the time to then uplift me and help me find positivity in ways I could see at that time. Even on days that Ena is not L's nurse, if she sees me in the hallways she takes the time to check in on me and give me a hug. I truly feel valued and cared about. From what I've read about what it means to be a DAISY Nurse, Ena exemplifies this and we have felt so lucky to have her on our care team.
