Laelen is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. She bonds with all of our patients, young and elderly, and family members. She is so gentle with our patients and families. She treats them with respect no matter their behavior or level of confusion. Our patients ask for her by name and give her name frequently as a great nurse on Press Ganey surveys and on leader rounding.
She is an inspiration for our staff and everyone who interacts with her. She remains unfailingly positive and cheerful. She is so active with committees and recruiting everyone to join. I was recruited and I saw how she worked especially with co-workers, family, and patients. She is very helpful and a good mentor in everything. She comes in during her free time just to educate/in-service nurses with what she learned from the system meeting. She has never been recognized for everything that she is doing for the hospital, so here I am, recognizing her.
She is so very active in volunteering activities. She recruited me to join her to promote Greater Heights Hospital in different volunteer events such as screening blood pressure, handing out hospital brochures, wrapping Christmas gifts for children, conducting physical assessments at local high schools, and educating students on how to stop the bleeding. She is very nice and cheerful to all patients and families. She gives "get well" cards to all of her patients. She encourages every nurse to do the same thing and says, "every little thing means a lot to the patient and family".
