I would just like to share a few words on my past open-heart surgery at Chester County Hospital. As with all open-heart procedures, you can imagine my worry and anxious feelings going into it, let alone my first stay in a hospital room in my 54 years of living. My fears/worry and paranoia were soon put to rest by the first voice I heard. Sherry would become for the better part of my week, my "woobie". Sherry Harding would become the voice of calmness, relaxation, and clarity in the confusing/scary/traumatic world of a post-op hospital stay. I will never be able to repay her for the talks, the explanations, the reassuring touch of my hand, the simple sip of liquid on a mouth so dry that made this extremely stressful stay much much brighter. From Sherry's bedside manner with me to her first-class treatment of my family and friends I can think of no one more deserving of The DAISY Award than Sherry. As the medicines began to wear off and I have begun to feel as great and strong as I do today I rest assured knowing one of my few remaining memories of my stay in the 3rd floor ICU will always be my "woobie", Sherry Harding.
