We arrived late in the afternoon on a Sunday and Scarlett checked me, the vet/patient, into the ward. When we went over to the Fisher House, no one was there to let my wife in and no one appeared to know how to get my spouse into her room. Scarlett called several people including the AOD and despite none of the various bureaucrats being very friendly or helpful, she stayed on the task and finally found out that the police department had a "packet" with instructions and keys to let my wife into the Fisher House. We almost quit, and we were going to spend hundreds of dollars to get a room in town but Scarlett persisted until she found the way to help us. She was helpful, cheerful, and positive throughout this problem and went well beyond the service I would expect from an excellent nurse. She also maintained a cheerful and supportive demeanor throughout this bureaucratic ordeal. Scarlett delivered service, help, and support above and beyond all expectations and made our stay here at the Long Beach SCI Unit during my annual checkup so much nicer than it started. This was all while doing her nurse duties, checking me in and getting me to my bed in the SCI Unit. Scarlett Lee makes the VA medical system look good.
