Shannon Rosborough is exemplary in her care of our veterans. She is so personable with them and always goes the extra mile for either the patient or spouse/family members or both. One of the last shifts I worked with her she had a very heavy assignment caring for 2 ventilator patients and a total of 3 total care patients and she seemed to take her time with each of them staying in the rooms making sure they were comfortable and satisfied.
One of the patients Shannon had was considered a bariatric patient and she made sure to get him up in the morning and put him back to bed when he was ready to make sure he got his therapy for the day. While in this patient's room she was heard talking to the patient at length about his family and other things that particularly interested the patient. The patient was smiling and laughing.
Shannon cared for another particularly long-term care patient on our unit, talking to him and 'blowing him kisses' while giving medications and turning and repositioning the patient. He just smiled and blew her kisses back. She had music on for him and took her time while in the room. She is very warm, thoughtful and has her patients and their families at the top of her priority list!
Another day she was taking care of a patient with Dementia (among other things) and stayed after work at least 15 minutes to search her locker and nurse's station for a phone charger for the patient to use overnight, because the wife had voiced concern leaving the patient if he did not have a charged phone. I'm sure there are many other scenarios, however, these are just to name a couple. She is well loved by the staff and consistently helps everyone in the unit and puts others first. Her teamwork and comradery do not go unnoticed. She is a definite asset to the PCU team.
