I have worked with Dawnette Bell, LVN for the past 7 years at the Lake Jackson clinic. She epitomizes the professionalism and grace of her practice of nursing. Recently she experienced one of the greatest challenges of her life and since recuperating, has returned to her position as an LJOPC nursing staff member. Her strength overcoming challenge serves to inspire and model for her own nursing discipline and others. Dawnette never allowed for any deterrence from the mission of caring for patients. She is resilient and remains steadfast to her dedication to the practice of Nursing. The following account not only demonstrates the ethics that Dawnette possesses but the ICARE principles of the agency and population of our nation's heroes for whom we work for to include Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.
Her actions towards staff exemplify the true meaning of what teamwork encompasses. She embodies and fosters collaboration and collegiality. She willingly organizes clinic gatherings and/or staff functions. She accommodates coverage for any nursing staff who is inundated with the daily tasks of the clinic setting, making a stressful situation more bearable. She does so without complaint but also with a positive attitude and a willingness to help in any way she can. She genuinely loves what she does and it shows through her enthusiasm and dedication to the practice.
Most recently, Dawnette assisted me in the facilitation of 18 holiday meals during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays for needy veteran families, contributed by community resources and veteran agencies within the community of Brazoria County. She effortlessly provided her assistance to organize and redistribute toys, games, educational books to 37 veterans' families sponsored by Toys for Tots and the American Legion to those who were touched by the misfortune during the holiday season.
Dawnette single-handedly collaborated with community resources to obtain disaster care packages to include cleaning supplies, emergency supplies, and food items to distribute among other LJOPC veteran families that were touched by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in the Brazoria County area.
Her actions, dedication, and passion towards patients exemplify the true meaning of nursing. Day in and day out, the empathy she embodies and respect provided to our patients is immeasurable. Because of the care and attention, she provides, I have seen the tremendous gratitude and sense of trust that they feel toward her for her commitment to their care. She demonstrates caregiving, advocacy, and kindness to each patient that enters our clinic.
She is an exceptional Lake Jackson Outpatient Clinic staff member and I give the examples below:

Dawnette is a strong individual, an advocate for patient services and care, has a beautiful heart and a gem to her profession and represents that in every capacity of her practice. She is a treasure and our clinic, the community and the profession is immeasurably better off for her contributions.
She is the ultimate professional, respectful, dedicated and someone that I, and many others, look up to as the embodiment of the nursing practice. Dawnette Bell is a true DAISY Nurse.
