My 6-year-old had to be taken to the emergency room to get stitches on her eyebrow after an unfortunate incident. She was bleeding and scared and so was I. Upon arrival to the emergency room, my daughter's nurse, Angela, took the time to connect with my daughter. She girl scout promised her to explain and tell her everything she was going to do before doing it, and to be by her side the whole time during stitching. Angela did as promised. She patiently, lovingly, and extremely kindly sat by my scared 6-year-old daughter, held her hand, and sang her songs. Angela told her stories about mermaids and rainbows and eating pizza and ice cream. My daughter was able to get her stitches and she wasn't even scared anymore. By the time the PA got finished stitching her, she was laughing with Angela. Angela made her feel safe and comfortable. She was just an amazing nurse. As an overwhelmed and scared parent, she made me feel safe as well. She truly helped my child overcome this terrible day with the greatest compassion I have ever experienced from a stranger. Thank you, Angela, for being the best nurse!
