My family would like to recognize the compassionate care of Danielle Testa in the Labor and Delivery unit at Methodist Charlton Medical Center. She took care of my sister during one of the most difficult days in her life. My sister lives in Puerto Rico with her family but was here visiting. During her visit, she began cramping and spotting at 20 weeks pregnant. Upon arrival to the hospital, it did not take long to confirm that the baby had died in utero.
Danny was caring, genuine, and had the sweetest spirit. She remained calm and reassuring while taking the time to explain all medications, procedures, and plan of care. She was never rushed and answered all of our questions thoroughly and truthfully.
Though she was handling multiple tasks prior to and during the delivery she never seemed rushed and was at the bedside comforting my sister throughout the entire process. Her clinical skill was beyond reproach. She made sure the doctor was aware of my sister's wishes to see, hold, and take pictures of her son after he was delivered.
After the delivery, she was extremely gentle with the baby as she assisted my sister with every request. She weighed and measured him, took photos, took footprints, and wrapped him in a blanket for my sister to hold him for as long as she wanted. She filled out every keepsake item and placed them in a beautiful keepsake box for her to take with her.
She may have seen her care as ordinary, but we saw it as extraordinary. She is nothing short of an exceptional nurse and an exceptional human being. My sister has often said how her care and compassion had made this difficult day slightly more tolerable and that she has definitely found God's calling for her life. She has made a lasting impact on our family.
