Amy has been on the Oncology unit as long as I can remember. She is always on the ball, frequently jumping in when extra hands are needed without waiting to be asked. She has gone "outside the box" on several occasions.
We had a patient who was dying, afraid, crying and Amy got in the bed and held this frail, suffering patient which helped the patient relax and feel supported.
We had an end of life cancer patient, her pain was uncontrolled despite all efforts. At the end, we had to use Palliative sedation, this patient and family were complex and very time consuming. Even though this was not Amy's patient, she was very supportive with the RN who did have the patient. Much of the care required 4 hands and Amy was always there. She is always supporting and caring for patient, families and co-workers.
