“Rachel was gracious and caring and yet she achieved something even more unbelievably remarkable. When I was in the room on Tuesday afternoon my mom told me that she was thinking of "letting go" and that I needed to be prepared for that. I'm sure you know and understand that no child is ever ready to hear that their parent wants to die. Rachel was there at the time and she handled the situation with such dignity, compassion, and grace. She simply and respectfully told my mom that she didn't want her to go. It moved my heart in a way that words cannot explain; that a "stranger" would say such a kind thing to someone she did not really know. She simultaneously validated my fear of the immediate moment and offered support to her patient who was in extreme emotional and physical distress - all the while speaking directly from her heart. I am most honored by that. There are few nurses that can respond that well under such a stressful moment. I will forever be grateful for that.”
