What was planned to be an outpatient surgery ended up with an overnight stay at ARMC. All the nurses were incredibly caring and professional; however, Staci Njuguna gave me exceptional care.
I was in pain and had lots of questions. Staci worked hard to make sure to check my charts from post-op, the ER and my previous night in the unit. She made sure I had questions ready for the doctor prior to his rounds. She stayed with me and made sure the doctor knew my medical history (my regular doctor who also performed my surgery was not on-call on a Saturday). She asked questions that I would not have thought to ask - but were so important.
After the doctor signed discharge papers, Staci was made charge nurse for the unit. I know she could have transferred me to another nurse when she transferred the rest of her patients, but she didn't. She made sure I was completely ready to leave before going over discharge paperwork. I was provided with detailed printouts about my medical conditions and she went over how to care for my incision sites. I received notes from her in my packet - and she even made sure I had the direct number for the floor in case I had additional questions.
This was a very stressful - and painful - time for me. Staci was so understanding - especially when I told her I was alone for most of the day because I wanted to make sure my husband could take our boys to their regular Saturday activities. I could not have asked for a better nurse and Staci exhibits all the qualities of a DAISY Nurse.
