Matt is the type of nurse that we all strive to be. He consistently works hard, provides compassionate care to all his patients, is respectful to staff, and goes above and beyond for his patients. Patients and families enjoy the care he provides, as well as feel calmer and better educated after he talks with them. Matt provides excellent education to other staff members as well, always taking the time to provide detailed information. For example, due to staffing issues, Matt came in on his day off. He provided nursing care for patients requiring emergent procedures. Throughout the entire day, he treated the whole staff with respect, even when difficult situations arose. He provided patients with compassionate care, all while keeping his composure. He even stayed after a 14-hour day until the unit found staffing. He never complains and always has a wonderful attitude. Matt deserves this award because he always exhibits these skills. He is an exceptional nurse and one that we are lucky to have to serve the community!
