Sheri Shiddell was driving home from work last night and witnessed a 3-car wreck on I-35 involving a van full of unrestrained children. She pulled over and cared for all the kids and adults including giving CPR to a pulseless 2-year-old who eventually got a pulse back while she waited 18 minutes for EMS. The children were transported here and the adults to a different facility. The family was Somali, complicating communication, but the 14-year-old child and father spoke English and she instructed the mother to continue giving the child rescue breaths once the pulse returned so she could care for the other children. I thought this was a great example of our amazing employees giving of their talents outside our walls. These children had a much stronger chance at survival due to Sheri's quick thinking and skills.
