We were happy to have Kelcie King as our nurse; not for one shift, but for three days in a row. She showed that she cared about my daughter as her own, showed us respect by answering all our questions, and showed extreme patience with our concerns. Kelcie went above and beyond her duty as a nurse. We were in intermediate care because my daughter had a tonsillectomy and adenoid removal. During her first surgery, she had issues with her oxygen level, taking her medicine, and being able to drink. A second surgery was needed the next day, which was her birthday. Kelcie knew how scared we were and kept reassuring us that our daughter would be okay and we will get her to drink and take meds.
Kelcie helped us get on top of her pain control; she took her time and showed patience every single time medication was given. She even came up with an idea of giving her water through a straw every hour. And I don't mean that we gave it to her every hour, I mean Kelcie took the effort and made us feel like a priority by coming in every hour, and sometimes more, to help us get our daughter to drink and with any other needs.
Kelcie put us at ease knowing we had someone who cared and wanted our daughter to feel her best. Kelcie is a wonderful nurse and she deserves the DAISY Award!
