Sheri Grobner deserves the DAISY Award because she goes above and beyond her job description to care for our patients. One sub-zero winter night, she drove to a patient's home to deliver emergency insulin pump supplies after hours. Because of Sheri, the patient avoided a hospitalization. I observed Sheri hold the hand of a grieving patient who had just lost a spouse and calm a patient having a medical emergency, well after she was done with her shift. Many patients have referred to Sheri as their life-saving angel and are eternally grateful for her care. We have been through many changes in our department, in terms of staffing and procedures. Sheri helped us keep processes running smoothly in the presence of chaos.

As a new provider to the Endocrinology Department, I was quick to notice that Sheri lives our mission and practices our values on a daily basis. She immediately made me feel welcome. Her positive attitude creates a culture of inclusiveness and a healthy team environment. She carries out her nursing responsibilities with compassion and respect for the dignity and self-worth of each patient. I have observed her caring approach, taking the time to establish trusting relationships with each patient. As one of many examples, Sheri advised one of my patients with diabetes on sick day management, avoiding a hospitalization for that patient.
