My husband was recovering from having his gall bladder removed and severe pancreatitis in. My husband's medical condition worsened during Brittany's day shift. She recognized his increased need for advanced care and notified proper personnel. My husband was immediately transferred to ICU where he remained for 2.5 weeks. Additionally on that day, Brittany noticed that my husband's heparin rate was unusually high and his blood was still not thinning properly. Instead of just routinely increasing the rate, she questioned the why the rate was so high. It was found that my husband was resistant to the heparin and was soon after changed to an alternate blood thinner. Brittany's close attention to my husband's medical condition and medications resulted in significant changes to his medical care and in my opinion, was the turning point in his road to recovery.
