Yvonne's clinical expertise and compassionate care exemplify the type of nursing that our patients, their families, our physicians, and our associates recognize as an outstanding role model. I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Yvonne for about a year. She arrives to work cheerful and prepared and maintains that positive attitude no matter the shift's circumstances. Yvonne consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of nurses, which is already a lengthy list, to ensure that her patients are cared for wholly. Some of my most humbling moments as a nurse have occurred when I take over a patient from her. They rave about her selfless compassion, some narrating their night of horrible pain that was eased by her massage or nausea that was relieved by the ginger candy she carries in her pocket. Yvonne has also served as a great source of comfort and joy to patients who speak other languages, as she can somewhat, if not fluently, communicate with them in their native tongue. In addition to taking on a role as charge nurse, she has worked incredibly hard to become an Orthopedic Certified Nurse this year, frequently studying the latest educational materials to provide the best possible care to her patients. Yvonne cares for her patients and colleagues unconditionally. She has a genuine heart, a fierce work ethic, and is truly an incredible blessing to all the lives she's touched.

Yvonne recently was able to move to a day shift position but soon declined it for a night shift co-worker to take it so that RN could finish her clinicals for her BSN. When asked about it she said she wanted the nurse to succeed in school more than she wanted the day position. Yvonne is an RN who leads by example and is treasured by her team.

Thank you for an overall very positive experience. I would like to single out my night nurse, Yvonne, as exemplary. She went above and beyond in terms of overall care. She took excellent care of both big details and small ones, such as the use of the incentive spirometer (inhaler apparatus), the use of the room's whiteboard and phone, explaining all equipment in the room and general information for my daughter about available services and the location of amenities on the floor. She made our stay much more comfortable and effective. Her nursing care was also responsive and professional. She managed my pain very well and took care of all the night time tests and medications while being nonintrusive, friendly and supportive. Her care was genuinely compassionate, her clinical skills excellent and her service outstanding. I so appreciated her wonderful work.
