Liz is our nurse liaison. In the PACU, the nurse liaison role is essentially to put out fires when issues arise with patients and their families. Liz goes above and beyond, she prevents fires from happening. She anticipates patients' needs and addresses issues before our own staff recognizes it as an issue.
She recently helped a family sort out their insurance information prior to surgery on the day of surgery. Not an easy task. She sat at the desk and made multiple calls to assist a very anxious patient and family. She then followed up after surgery with the family. The family went from extremely anxious to incredibly grateful.
I have had times when patients were hungry and she managed to find food for them. (All we have to offer on our unit is crackers). She makes our job easier every day she is scheduled and makes a noticeable difference in our patient satisfaction results. She rounds on our patients to ensure family members are worry-free while their loved ones are in surgery. She truly is an angel and a true DAISY Nurse.
