Melissa is an exemplary nurse and role model to staff. She is a constant professional in her interactions with patients, their families, and staff members. When I think of words to describe Melissa, I think of words such as kind, caring, genuine, patient, positive, compassionate, and empathetic. She is extremely knowledgeable and is often sought out by nurses to help figure out how to handle a situation. She listens and communicates patient concerns well to providers and advocates what is best for them. She goes above and beyond to always practice safely and efficiently, is detail-oriented, and is always proactive in helping her coworkers when she sees they are having a difficult day. She is one of the leaders on this unit - she is a charge nurse, preceptor, mentor, and UPC co-chair.
Melissa is extremely passionate about being an oncology nurse, and her patients are lucky to have her guiding them through their hospital journey. Lastly, Melissa is one of the best coworkers and embodies the teamwork mentality. When I come in and see that Melissa is working, I know it's going to be a great day!
