Our interaction with Allyson began outside of the hospital. You see, Allyson was second on scene of my brother's roll-over accident. She acted quickly to assess the situation and relayed his condition to all. My brother was trapped in his truck, upside down, with the seat belt wrapped around his neck. Allyson knew he didn't have much time. She sat with him, talking him through, reminding him to breathe. She stayed with him until life flight left for the hospital. Once at the hospital, she sent flowers to the ICU and met and talked with the family. Allyson continued to check in on him and offered support to the family. Later, when he was able to meet and talk with her, he said, "I don't remember your face, but I will never forget your voice."
Allyson saved my brother's life that day, a day when her work day began on the way to work instead of when she arrived at the hospital. We are so thankful for her willingness to stop and help, to provide her expertise, for keeping him alive until help came. Her support after the accident has been an additional blessing. On behalf of the whole family, we truly hope you will honor Allyson with this DAISY Award.
