On 2/13/14 my mother was diagnosed with AML and sent to WakeMed. Unfortunately she passed away on 3/8/14 while in the CICU. She was in the MICU then CICU during her entire stay at WakeMed. During her stay in the MICU and CICU she received exceptional care from all the nurses. However, one nurse in particular was exceptionally compassionate - Lacy Perdue. We spent a lot of time in the CICU with my mother and got to know a lot of the nurses. And while all nurses provided exceptional care, Lacy seemed to go above and beyond. It was very, very comforting and helpful to have someone who could/would answer our questions realistically (sometimes the doctors are a bit too optimistic). Lacy provided us invaluable comfort during my mother's stay and proved to be invaluable in making the very hard decisions which we were faced with. I feel that Lacy deserves recognition for her outstanding service.
