It is not uncommon for Pamela to receive recognition from patients and their families for her hard work and constant wit. One patient said, "I have visited her many times and she always knows exactly how to cheer me up". She also receives comments on her ability to educate the patient at their level whatever that level may be for them to understand appropriately.
In Pamela's nomination, her spot on clinical judgment and assessment skills were mentioned. Pam has used her assessment skills and a keen sense of knowledge in recognizing a patient's declining status quickly in an effort to efficiently treat the patient and provide them with the care needed to sustain life.
Most recently, Pamela recognized her patient was tachypneic in fluid overload and his ability to breathe worsening after previous attempts through orders for improvement. She recognized this worsening state and called a Code Green immediately. By recognizing this promptly she was able to get immediate attention to her patient by a physician at the bedside. This patient was later placed on CPAP and transferred for a higher level of care.
Pamela has been a nurse for almost 28 years and has worked in many different areas of nursing. Pamela is a skilled nurse who truly has compassion for each and every one of her patients. She is a true advocate for doing what is best for the patient's safety and outcome.
