I received a phone call from a family member of a deceased patient today. She expressed gratitude to all staff, but especially Anissa, who went out of her way to make her mother more comfortable. She told me she especially appreciated the day Anissa went and bought her mother a lighted magnifying glass so she could read the morning paper. On this day the daughter was running late and could not read to the patient as usual. It gave her comfort knowing her mother was in good hands while she was out.

This family member was losing a sister and her mother at the same time. Though overcome with grief, she wanted to make sure Anissa had a special thank you note, so she called (one hour after her sister's death) to ask for an address for Anissa to send a thank you.

During my brief time as house supervisor I have heard many compliments of Anissa from patients and families and this one was so special it earned her my DAISY nomination.
