Jessica volunteered throughout the first year after her residency to come back to the Nurse Residency Class and be a guest speaker to welcome the newest nurses to ESJH. She came back multiple times to multiple classes. She gets the residents excited about their new positions and lets them know they are going to be awesome nurses. This is the perfect welcome during their first weeks, and it gives them the assurance that we are happy to have them at ESJH.
Jessica had her first nurse resident this past Fall to precept. Her nurse resident would share with me and the class that great resources that Jessica provides for her. She is always kind and thoughtful and exhibits the Mercy Philosophy naturally. She checks in with me about her nurse resident and all of the residents, in general, to see if there are any ways that she can support our new graduates.
I wish you all could see the fantastic welcome Jessica gives to all of the resident nurses. Her passion for nursing is contagious. She makes me more excited and prouder to be a nurse after hearing her present. She welcomes all of the residents, not only those from the cardiac floors, to reach out to her if they need support. I wish that all nurses had such a wonderful welcome when they first started their nursing careers.
