This was my second baby delivered at Sisters Hospital and this experience was absolutely amazing. I attribute that to the care I received from two nurses- one of whom was Laura in labor and delivery. From the moment that I was roomed, Laura knew just what to do to make sure that my labor kept moving and that I would have the best delivery possible. Every step of the way I felt like I had a partner in this process and she was an advocate for me through everything. She knew my birth plan and made suggestions to keep me moving. She encouraged me to walk the halls, she made suggestions and encouraged me to use different techniques to progress, and knew just when to make changes to that so that my body would keep responding. In addition to being kind and compassionate, I felt like her knowledge and experience is what made the delivery of my son go so flawlessly. Any woman who can say that about their birth story knows how truly amazing and relieving that is! This nurse spent the day with me, keeping me comfortable and lining me up for a smooth delivery. Laura didn't just do her "job", she went above and beyond to be my advocate when I was in pain and couldn't do it myself, and that did not go unnoticed.
It's easy to go home and become so consumed with your new child that you forget about the people who helped you get there- and I will never forget the kindnesses shown to me by Laura and the nurses at Sisters Hospital. I am so grateful that she made my son's birthday one of the greatest days of my life.
