I had the pleasure of speaking to a patient who called me from home. He wanted to tell me how wonderfully he was cared for by his nurse. He said this nurse went above and beyond to ensure his comfort and needs were met. He remembers waking up disoriented and scared but this nurse was right there telling him he was safe and making him feel comforted by his presence. He wanted this nurse to come to his house to choose a watercolor that his wife had painted. This compliment is not a surprise to me. I hear them from every patient that he cares for. Thomas truly exemplifies nursing excellence.
