First I want you all to know that Shannon has grown in her position to not only to be a great nurse but a respected leader in the Cath Lab.I have personally witnessed her in action from dealing with staff and physician issues to comforting families of patients to giving chest compressions on the stretcher on the way to Cardiac Surgery. I am proud to be her manager. She is respected by all departments and levels of staff that she interacts with.The following story happened while she and her close friend were on their way to Key West for vacation. It just goes to show her dedication to her profession does not stop when she leaves the hospital grounds.Lexington trio give aid to a passenger who become unconscious on a flight to Florida and Shannon and Teresa, another one of our wonderful nurses went to work in mid air to use their knowledge and skills to assess this patient utilizing the on board Automatic External Defibrillator. The passenger regained consciousness briefly and again became unconscious. The two stayed with the patient until the plane landed in Nashville and was transferred to the care of the EMS personnel there. Shannon continuously shows her passion for her work and her patients and this just deomonstrates that it is not 'just her job' but a big part of her life.
