A few months ago we had an elderly female patient in the hospital and her husband came to visit her. He appeared ill but refused to get checked out. Janeth Martinez could tell he didn't feel well and his daughter tried to convince him to be seen at the doctor, but he refused.
After talking to him at length Janeth convinced him to be seen and his daughter made him an appointment for later that day. He was seen at the doctor's office and sent to the ER immediately for evaluation. After being in the ER he declined and ultimately was in septic shock. He ultimately died a few days later while in the hospital but his wife and children were able to be with him and say goodbye to him.
Had Janeth not talked him into being evaluated he likely would have died at home that evening. I appreciate the compassion and professionalism she showed and her commitment to not only the patient but their family. Way to go above and beyond and make a difference.
