Marte was nominated by a Foundation Council member for going above and beyond while caring for his dying father.

...the attention given to the family was impressive and constant. At one time, a nurse asked what kind of music he liked. Not able to find anything on television that would provide this, the nurse left the room and shortly returned with her mobile phone that she left at his bedside playing the Gospel music he would have enjoyed. She left the phone with the family so that the patient and his family could hear music that was special to him in his last hours.
