Susan immediately endeared herself to my daughter and me. We felt like she had always been a part of our lives, that she already knew what we were going through, and that we could trust her to help. She was funny, encouraging, understanding, and professional. I’m almost sad to leave and not be able to see her spunky smiling face! “She’s funny. She kinda makes me feel better about stuff.” The Patient- 6

Susan is wonderful asset to this hospital. She is very caring not only about the patient, but also about the family as well. When I arrived at the hospital with my 2 year old son who had just been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I was frantic- all I could think about was the wellbeing of my son. She came in and was so pleasant, very helpful and concerned. She immediately started talking to me about my son and me. Susan put my mind at ease telling me personal stories about her life- this helped me a great deal!! She goes above and beyond the nursing duties. After being here for about a day, Susan noticed that I hadn’t eaten very much. She told me that I needed to eat to keep my strength up and even went as far as to get me a voucher for the café. I didn’t think that I was missing food, because I was focused on my son, but after eating I felt 10 times better- Susan once again knew what she was talking about. I can’t think that any nurse deserves this award more.
