Part of the University Health System mission is to promote the good health of the community by teaching the next generation of health professionals. A great number of Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant students request rotations with UMA providers due to feedback from former students about their excellent learning experience.
Stephanie Berry, Nurse Practitioner at the Texas Diabetes Institute Primary Care Clinic, is a shining star among the UMA team for her ability to provide an exemplary learning experience for students while maintaining high productivity and participating in projects above and beyond her regular job responsibilities.
Stephanie joined the UMA team in March of 2012 and she has been enthusiastically teaching PA and NP students since 2013. In the last 2 years, Stephanie has taught 17 NP and PA students; often taking on two at the same time. She has a talent for identifying providers who would be a great fit for UMA. Many who ultimately joined UMA were taught and recommended by her.
Students who have rotated with Stephanie have raved about their learning experience under her direction. As a result of their positive experience, the students have recommended Stephanie to fellow students and UMA/UHS as the health system of choice from an employer, student and patient perspective. Stephanie, you never cease to amaze me. Your dedication and passion to your patients and the organization is limitless and it shows in everything you do.
