My father has been very sick and while in the hospital with c-diff and an abscess in his colon, he had a heart attack. He was moved to another floor and at that point was spiraling down. He had no appetite and was in a lot of pain, it seemed as if he wouldn't get better. Then Steve, being his nurse, in a quiet way, encouraged Dad to just try to eat a little at a time. He took time to explain to dad that while he didn't feel like eating, his body needed nutrition to heal. Steve took it on his own to get some broth, make it and bring to Dad. My father would then take several sips and started to really try from that point. Steve saw the spiral and didn't preach but gave Dad information to help him regain his will to fight.
