Peggy's leadership, knowledge, family-centered approach and innovation have shaped and impacted numerous nurses, patients and families and the hospital as a whole.
When Peggy was notified of a disgruntled patient and parent during an ER experience, she went to help. The patient had just left, but Peggy didn't give up even though it was the end of her shift. She reached the patient and parent outside the building and made herself available to their concerns. She was able to help the upset parent realize their child was in fact feeling better and it was okay to leave. Peggy scheduled a follow-up call with the patient and parent to make sure they felt listened to and fully cared for. Peggy is a great example of what it means to be patient focused.
In Peggy's interaction with the disgruntled mother and patient, she reported that the mother acted calmly and appropriately with her when just moments before she had been abrasive inside. Peggy was surprised that the lady was as nice as could be to her, but I was not surprised by the turn in the woman's attitude. I have witnessed Peggy's approach with patients; she is professional and caring. She doesn't argue with them, she listens.
Many young nurses report they appreciate Peggy's coaching and guidance. Staff in all departments state they feel calm and secure when they work with Peggy because they know she will be there for them if needed. Peggy is an outstanding nurse. She's professional, compassionate and knowledgeable. She is a critical thinker with a good sense of humor and doesn't hesitate to take on a challenge.
Peggy is the person you want at your side when times become challenging. Whether it's staying late to help other nurses finish their work, talking you through your first port access or managing high patient flow and bed shortages, Peggy does whatever it takes to best support the nurses and staff.
