Cody was nominated by parents, grandparents and a nursing student. This is what they had to say:
Cody helped my family and I. He helped my son begin eating again. If it wasn’t for him my son would still be in NICU. He was very kind and wanted what was best for my son. I feel very grateful to him for the time, effort and energy he put in to help my son. You can tell that he cares a great deal about his patients and their families.
Cody helped our grandson navigate through dehydration and taught mom, dad and baby how help our grandson re-learn to suck. In some ways, he saved his life. He is compassionate, a great teacher and meticulous about keeping the baby on a schedule. And while we couldn’t be here 24/ 7, Cody offered gentle words and touch for us. We will always be in debt to you for helping to bring our grandson back and to learn to thrive by learning to suck. Thanks so much.
He helped turn my son’s life around. He was patient, consistent, and helped educate us on how to work with him at home. He shows so much care for his patients and this isn’t just a job for him. I felt good knowing that he was being well taken care of by him.
The day we arrived at the NICU was a very emotional and traumatic day. The first person to greet me in the NICU was Nurse Cody. He began asking me about my child’s medical information. I began to cry and Cody stood up and hugged me and softly said, “It will be ok, your son is in good hands”. From that moment I never had a doubt whether or not my son was well taken care of in the NICU. Cody was not only and outstanding nurse but a great care giver. I was a bit shocked that a 6ft. tall man was working in the NICU but he cares for babies like a little grandma would! He rocked my son, fed him his first bottle and always made him smile. Cody also made sure I felt a part of my son’s care. Cody made a huge impact in my life. He truly inspired me. I am enrolled in a nursing program now and my goal is to be a NICU nurse at Cook Children’s. I pray that I am as great a nurse as Cody was to our son. Thanks Cody!
