Our mother was admitted to 4NW with multiple medical diagnoses. She was ninety-four years young and was a wonderful, beautiful, accomplished woman. Her family was always the most important aspect of her life.
She was in constant pain, but when asked, she would rarely admit how she was feeling. On the long weekend, Gwen was her nurse. At this time, she had been in the hospital for several days as her condition worsened. Gwen went above and beyond with the excellent care she provided for our mother. She continuously worked with our family and Dr. G to keep us informed, provide skilled compassionate care of our mother, and provide support to our family during the hardest time of our lives.
We were losing our beloved mother, and as her pain increased so did that of our family. Gwen was there for our mother to provide all she could to make her more comfortable in her last days and to help our family deal with what was happening. Gwen gave our mother skilled, professional, and wonderful care while providing compassionate understanding and support to our family. Her care allowed us to give our mother the most important thing she wanted as her life was ending and that was to be with family in the end.
Gwen is the type of RN that exemplifies what a nurse should and can be for each of her patients.
