Paula has been an extraordinary nursing leader during her time at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital and MacDonald Women's Hospital. She has created and fostered an environment of respect, trust, and compassion, not only for the patients we care for but for each other as well. Her work across pediatrics and women's health has led us to achieve better outcomes in nursing care and patient experience.
Paula inspires others with her leadership style. She is open and engaging. She encourages her team to think critically and problem solve. She has worked to mentor and develop many new leaders across both organizations. She has been supportive during some of the most challenging times, including an ongoing pandemic, Joint Commission visits and re-visits, and the never ending struggles of managing a tight nursing budget.
Paula has been accessible and available as a leader. Throughout her busy day, she welcomes various members of her team in her office helping to navigate a problem, solve challenging patient safety issues, or just spending time on leadership development with individual team members.
Paula has worked hard to promote and enhance the image of nursing, especially at the CMC and system level. She makes sure Pediatrics and Women's Health Nursing is represented at all levels of the organization. She worked to assure our voice is heard.
Paula is truly an amazing Nurse Leader. She has class, she is passionate and articulate, and she supports and motivates her teams to always follow the vision and values that guide us every day to deliver extraordinary care to all patients and families.
