The dust is slowly settling, and I wanted to take this opportunity to really express my gratitude and respect for one of your staff members.
Throughout the COVID pandemic, we were so incredibly impressed as a hospital and specifically, the critical care division by the support we received from the PICU and CCMC team. From the snacks to catered food, functional nurses, and even your staff stepping out of their comfort zone to pick up shifts as flex, it was so touching to see what we were able to accomplish with the PICU RN's on our team! It was an added bonus to get the opportunity to meet all of these amazing nurses who we otherwise would not have crossed paths with.
Dhalia Puri in particular went above and beyond in so many ways. I know she was instrumental in securing monetary and food donations for the staff. The meals touched us in a way I cannot truly express in words. I was even more floored to hear that she had also sent food to other hospitals in the health system and really took pride in supporting her colleagues.
As a functional RN, Dhalia was so helpful and really went above and beyond to make sure that none of the nurses were in the weeds. She took ownership of tasking throughout the unit, rounded frequently, and above all, brought an energy of hope that we really needed. Seeing Dhalia in the role of a primary RN in the adult SICU was the most impressive of all. She seamlessly transitioned to an adult critical care RN, thinking fast on her feet, providing focused, quality care, and caring for this population at their most vulnerable time. She took the time to get to know the patients in a way I found so special, bathing with impeccable care and dignity, and personalizing every interaction.
During this crisis, it was so hard to see the light but working side by side with Dhalia was really inspirational. I haven't truly known the term "a nurses' nurse" until now.
