Today I happened to witness a very kind gesture that I feel needs recognized. I was passing through High Acuity and just so happen to notice Angela wheeling a patient into a room that already had another patient in it. I thought it was weird, and that maybe with as crazy as the current times had gotten, we were doubling people up in rooms. I stood by and waited for her to come back out of the room to ask what was going on. Without even questioning it as being unusual, she tells me that they are husband and wife that were both in an accident together today. One of them was getting ready to move up to an inpatient room to await surgery and wouldn't be allowed any visitors. She wanted them to be able to see each other for the first time since the accident, as she didn't know when they would see each other again. Both patients were holding hands and crying and she shut the door to give them some privacy. This was such a heartfelt thought and gesture that it made me want to cry myself. To top it all off, she wasn't the nurse of either one of them but arranged for this moment to happen. Thank you Angela for being such a top example of what nursing is about behind the scenes. I'm sure that the couple will be forever grateful.
