A patient arrived who had been with us before and Anjelica realized he was missing his Jazzy motorized scooter. That's when Anjelica, our Charge Nurse, knew she had to intervene. She immediately called our director to ask if she would go and retrieve the Jazzy from 7-11. The director called EMS and inquired about which 7-11 they picked up the patient from. After successfully identifying the convenience store, the Director and Assistant Director, who had happily volunteered the services of her truck, embarked on an adventure to ensure this patient had his Jazzy. They lifted the heavy machinery onto the truck by themselves and successfully got it to the hospital. Anjelica noticed immediately that the charger for the scooter was not present. Anjelica took it upon herself to purchase a charger for the scooter so the patient did not have to do without. The best part of this story is that the patient was intubated and sedated. He never asked for any of this help and he will likely never know what these wonderful nurses did for him out of the kindness of their hearts. These ladies deserve recognition for a truly altruistic act!
