I have been a CNA at Platte Valley for a little over two months now and in my time here, I have not seen a nurse who goes more above and beyond for her patients. Maddy comes in every morning with a smile on her face and is ready to work and truly care for people. Times are uncertain and unpredictable during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic and we have seen patients go from 100 to 0 in a matter of hours.
One day Maddy was caring for a patient at the end of her life and not only did she do her job as a nurse keeping this patient comfortable, but I believe she also made this patient feel loved and cared for in her final hours. This patient was COVID positive and Maddy spent a good 3/4 of her day in the room decked out in her PPE, with this patient, giving her comforting touches, brushing her hair back, cleaning her face and mouth, speaking with not only her but face-timing her family so they were able to get updates and say their goodbyes, in the only way they were allowed. Maddy truly exemplifies compassion and caring in the nursing field.
